Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Rajeev Chandrasekhar is an Entrepreneur and Member of Parliament - Rajya Sabha, representing Karnataka, India.

From being a part of the team that built the first Pentium processors at Intel to building a successful Telecom brand BPL Mobile, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has made a distinguishing mark in every endeavour. He founded BPL Mobile and was one of the first investors in the early 90’s to develop India’s first and largest green field telecom infrastructure. BPL Mobile had invested and built a world-class telecom infrastructure in the metro of Mumbai and the circles of Maharashtra, Tamilnadu Kerala Pondicherry and Goa and laid the foundation for the Telecom revolution in India. Rajeev Chandrasekhar is widely recognized for his significant role in the development of the now successful telecom sector. BPL Mobile which later merged with Essar-Hutch was benchmarked the largest ever M&A in the country, with a valuation of over 1.2 billion US dollars. He founded Jupiter Capital in 2005 with a vision to foray into businesses of tomorrow in emerging new markets of globalizing economy of India.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar is currently the President of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has been Member of Prime Ministers Council on Trade & Industry-1999-2003; Member of Advisory Committee in the Ministry of Information Technology- 1999-2002; Chair Person of Government of Karnataka, Infrastructure Task Force 1999-2002 and Director, Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar recently received the Alumnus Award from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. He was honoured with the Global Service Award, which recognizes a graduate whose extraordinary achievements have helped strengthen the institute’s reputation on an international scale.
