The Pointe of View Winery is the first federally licensed and bonded winery in North Dakota, the last state of the United States to have a federally licensed winery. This marks the first time when there is at least one federally licensed and bonded winery in all 50 states of the Union. [http://www.atf.gov/pub/alctob_pub/at_news/july_2002/page2.htm, "A Very Good Year for Vitners", accessed August 3 2007] The winery is located in the north-central part of North Dakota, half a mile south of Burlington.

History

The owners of the winery (the Petersons and the Egglestons) experimented for many years making wines for their own consumption. The winery is the "fruit of their labors".

Honor

Their rhubarb wine (no vintage) received a bronze medal in the 2006 American Wine Society Commercial Wine Competition [http://www.americanwinesociety.com/web/downloads/2006CWCresults.pdf, accessed 23 June 2007] .

Wines

Although North Dakota is often thought of as a climate that can not produce grapes, there are a number of vineyards in the state. In addition to grapes, the winery also uses a wide variety of other fruits for their wines which include GrapeRhubarb, Cherry, Apple, Elderberry, Blackcurrant, Plum, Chokecherry, Strawberry, and Juneberry.
