"Ready, Set, Don't Go" is a country pop song from 2007 by Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus, from Billy Ray's album, "Home at Last". Released in August of 2007, it did not reach its peak position until March of 2008. The single debuted at #47 and was Cyrus' first chart entry on the U.S. "Billboard" Hot Country Songs chart since "The Other Side" reached #45 in 2003, as well as his first Top 5 since "Busy Man" in 1999, which peaked at #3. Originally recorded and released as a solo song, "Ready, Set, Don't Go" was re-released in October 2007 as a duet with Miley Cyrus. After it was released, the songs airplay increased massively moving up 15 spots in one week. The duet also reached #37 on the Billboard Hot 100, #44 on the Pop 100 and #41 on the Hot Digital Songs. Also gaining play in Canada, the song reached the Top 10. Due to the top 40 success of this song, Billy Ray has ended his 15-year stint as a one hit wonder in America in mainstream pop music.

Music video

The music video for the song was directed by Elliot Lester. It has Billy Ray sitting on suitcases playing guitar while home videos are being showed in the background. Films of Miley as a baby and watching her grow up to be Hannah Montana. The video debuted in July 2007 on CMT's Top 20 Countdown, where it reached #4.

In 2008, the video for "Ready, Set, Don't Go" was nominated for "Tearjerker Video of the Year" in the 2008 CMT Music Awards; which Billy Ray and Miley hosted. Along with Cyrus, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, and Kellie Pickler were also nominated. Kellie Pickler won the award for her song, "I Wonder".
