The Oakland Athletics' 1969 season involved the A's finishing 2nd in the American League West with a record of 88 wins and 74 losses, nine games in back of the Minnesota Twins. With expansion to 12 teams in 1969, the American League was divided into two 6-team divisions. During that year, the Athletics finished second in the A.L. West Division behind the Minnesota Twins—the first time they had finished in the first division since 1952.
