List of Victoria Crosses by school

List of Victoria Crosses by school

The schools of Britain, the British Empire, and later the Commonwealth, have contributed greatly to their armed forces, with some schools having lost hundreds of former pupils, especially in the First and Second World Wars. Some schools boast Victoria Cross recipients among their alumni, and more than thirty schools are known to have educated more than one VC recipient. These are listed in the table below, along with the campaigns for which the VCs were awarded. The order of the schools is by the number of Victoria Crosses received. [Three schools educated the only boys who went on to win the Victoria Cross and Bar, Christ's College, Canterbury, New Zealand (Charles Upham), Magdalen College School (Noel Godfrey Chavasse) and Westminster School (Arthur Martin-Leake). The bars are included as separate awards in the columns of the table.]
