Johnny Barker (born on January 1, 1979) is a New Zealand professional musician and actor. As a musician, he is currently focusing on his solo project (under the moniker "Sleepy Kid") after the breakup of his previous band, Nephew.

Johnny was previously Lead Singer with Auckland band JESTER, who provided music for short films & the Emmy Award nominated Television Series - Being Eve. Johnny also supplied the voice to the Air New Zealand advertisement featuring the fictional band Zepher playing atop the Capitol building in LA. [ [http://www.kractors.co.nz/details.php?act_id=1 Johnny Barker Details ] ] Johnny has several film and television roles and has appeared in New Zealand's medical soap opera Shortland Street twice - first in 2000 as Jed Ferris and again in 2007 as nurse Joey Henderson who was revealed as the Ferndale Strangler and meet his demise on March 5, 2008.

Johnny attended Avondale College and took leading roles in school productions from 1994-1997 among them "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Jane Eyre". He was also part of theatre sports in 1997 which came 2nd in Auckland.

Johnny has also appeared on ads such as a Telecom ad.

On May 12 2008 his first solo album "Lullabies for Macy Rose" was released under the name Sleepy Kid.
