Mission

"The mission of the Southern California Leadership Network is to train and develop a productive network of exemplary and diverse leaders in the business, government and community sectors who are capable of addressing the critical challenges facing the Southern California region. The organization’s core programs are Leadership Southern California and Leadership L.A."

About

In 2006, the Leadership L.A. Foundation, founded in 1987, and the Southern California Leadership Network, founded in 1989, joined forces in a new partnership with the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. Now programs of SCLN at the L.A. Chamber, [http://www.leadershipnetwork.org/?link_id=93 Leadership L.A.] and [http://www.leadershipnetwork.org/?link_id=49 Leadership Southern California] will continue to be the region's two premier leadership programs.

SCLN has already equipped more than 900 civic-minded thinkers of both programs with the community and regional knowledge necessary to address quality of life issues in our region. Recruiting efforts are aimed at ensuring that the diversity of the region is reflected fully in the composition of the classes with special attention given to cultural, gender, age and professional diversity. Classes always include leaders from the ranks of private industry, government and the non-profit sector.

Sessions are designed with three key components that are distinctive to SCLN's programs:
# A comprehensive overview of the issue at hand
# Dialogue and discussion among peers and experts
# Behind-the-scenes exploration through case studies

Leadership L.A.

Developing Community Leaders in Los Angeles
Leadership L.A. has been strengthening the Los Angeles community by developing, training, and empowering leaders since 1987.

The program includes about 25 selected participants to engage in nine monthly, full-day sessions devoted to key community issues exploration and leadership skills development. It is for individuals with expanding community leadership roles throughout Los Angeles County. Participants get an in-depth knowledge of the county and build strong relationships between fellow participants and the organizations they encounter.

Leadership Southern California

Developing Regional Leaders
Leadership Southern California is a unique, experiential “master class” on Southern California in the company of talented, high-energy peers.

Each year the program enrolls about 40 carefully selected mid- to senior-level leaders in a 10-session program that embodies the values of regional stewardship, experiential learning and a deep exposure to regional public policy issues. Participants travel across five counties, exploring cross-cutting themes while interacting with leaders of regional, state and national note.

Events

Southern California Visionaries Awards Luncheon
SCLN annually honors leaders who are inspiring positive change in the region at its Southern California Visionaries awards luncheon. This premier leadership event in Southern California honors Southern California leader of the year, elected leader of the year, graduate of the year and excellence in civic leadership.

Conversations with Leaders
The Conversations with Leaders series brings together leaders from the business, government and non-profit sectors to discuss relevant topics and reflect on leadership in intimate settings with graduates of LSC and LLA, invited guests and sponsors.
