The U.S. House election, 1972 was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1972 which coincided with the landslide re-election victory of President Richard M. Nixon. Nixon's Republican Party managed to gain a net of twelve seats from the Democratic Party, although the Democrats retained a majority.
Notable freshmen included future Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.).
