Jorgen Nielsen (academic)

Jørgen Nielsen is a Danish professor in Islamic studies and deputy head of the Department of Theology and Religion at Birmingham University. He is the writer of several books related to Islam in Europe and to the international order of Sufism. He is perhaps best known as one of the coiners of the term "European Islam", which he did in his book "Towards a European Islam" (London: Macmillan, 1999).
