* 1915 - The station begins operation as Shin-Yawata station. At that time, the old Yawata Station was located towards Onigoe station
* 1942 - Yawata station is discontinued, and is merged with Shin-Yawata Station
* 1942 - The station is renamed to the current
* 1963 - Ichikawa Keisei Departmetn store opens
* 2007 - Ichikawa Keisei Department store closes as the JR Motoyawata Station re-development project proceeds
