Rokeri s Moravu

Rokeri s Moravu

Rokeri s Moravu (Serbian Cyrillic: Рокери с Мораву, meaning "Rockers from Morava") were popular Serbian band from 1980s. Their music was an eclectic mix of Serbian folk substratum, with rock elements and the lyrics in folksy dialect of Šumadija mixed with numerous popular culture references. In effect, it was a benevolent parody on stereotypes of Serbian villagers and folk music. Their visual trademark were Serbian šajkača caps, worn either with traditional dress and/or in crazy combinations with tuxedos, fur coats or A-shirts. Both their music and overall appearance was a conscious kitsch.

The band was formed in 1977, when Boris Bizetić, songwriter, occasional actor and singer, gathered a group of friends. "Rokeri" recorded 19 albums between 1977 an 1991, when they split. The best-selling album was "Krkenzi kikiriki" from 1980. Their greatest hits include "Turio Ljubiša pivo da se 'ladi", "Ja Tarzan a ti Džejn", "Stojadinka ovce šiša", "Seks na eks". In 2005, 3 "best of" box sets of 2CDs each, titled "Sabrana nedela" ("Collected misdeeds") was issued. A comeback album, "Projekat", was issued in 2007, recorded only by Bizetić and Zvonko Milenković.
