Thomas Forbes Hartnett (born August 7, 1941) was a U.S. Representative from South Carolina.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Hartnett attended parochial schools.He graduated from Bishop England High School, Charleston, 1960.He attended the College of Charleston from 1960 to 1961.He was in the United States Air Force Reserve from 1963 to 1969. South Carolina Air National Guard from 1981 to 1987.He served as president, Hartnett Realty Co., 1987 to present.He served as member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1965 to 1973.He served as member of the South Carolina Senate from 1973 to 1981.He served as delegate, South Carolina State Republican conventions from 1972 to 1980.He served as delegate, Republican National Conventions from 1980 to 2000.

Hartnett was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-seventh and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1987).He was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundredth Congress in 1986, but was an unsuccessful candidate for lieutenant governor of South Carolina.He was an unsuccessful candidate for the United States Senate in 1992.He is a resident of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
