"For the Rest of Your Life" is a British game show on ITV, hosted by Nicky Campbell. It is produced by Initial, a company of Endemol.

Format

Round One
Before Round One began, the couple playing would select a cash amount they would play, this would be three different amounts in each show, ranging between £100 to £200. After selecting their amount, the couple then faced the main gameboard, a circle of lights. In Round One, there were eight white lights and three red lights. A white light would add money to their monthly pay cheque, e.g. £175 for each white light found, a red light would deduct money from the accumulated amount.

The couple could only stick on a white light and must play on if they find a red light, finding all three would mean the game was over and they would go home with nothing. In Round One, they wouldn't be able to stick until they had reached 4 steps or more on the money ladder. Once stuck, the money won would be used for Round Two.

Round Two
Round Two would playing for how long they could win the money they earned in Round One, ranging from just 1 month to Life (it meant usually every month for up to 40 years). The couple was now also split, the person who chose the numbered lights would be playing in the studio, the other playing in what was called the "isolation pod".

Round Two consisted of 11 white lights and four red lights. Same rules to sticking applied (only able to stick on a white light, play on if a red light was found). Finding all four red lights before sticking left them with nothing.

Result
After the person playing in the studio stuck, they would be shown how their partner got on in the isolation pod. In front of the partner are two buttons marked 'Stick' and 'Continue'. The money won would be determined on who chose to stuck first.

If the studio player lost everything, they had to hope their partner stuck first to earn then some money. If they went on and won big, they had to hope their partner stuck at the same time or wanted to continue after to win the exact amount. Sticking too early in this case would cost them lots of money.

Popularity and Facts

* The first series began on May 8, 2007 and concluded on June 15, 2007 to make way for ITV's other new Endemol-produced show, Golden Balls.
* It was promised to be successful but has received bad reports from critics and viewers alike for its complicated format and layout. Also, there was criticism that the top prize is unwinnable. The only way to win would be to find all 11 white lights in succession. The odds are so overwhelmingly against you, and most people would stick LONG before reaching the top of the time ladder, rather than risk leaving with nothing.
* It is unknown if the show will continue.
* The show was voted Worst New Gameshow Format of 2007 by readers of UKGameshows.com.
* A U.S. version of this show was created called Set for Life and ran for 7 episodes from July 20th to August 31st, 2007 [ [http://www.tv.com/set-for-life/show/59253/episode_listings.html?tag=subtabs;list Set for Life Episode List - TV.com ] ]
