Elections in 2000 were held on May 4th.

The Labour Party retained control of Wolverhampton City Council, although Labour polled a lower percentage of votes (40.21%) than the Conservative Party (44.61%) in this election.

The 2000 elections were the first since Wolverhampton gained City status.
