Sportsvision was a short-lived subscription TV service founded by Chicago White Sox owners Jerry Reinsdorf and Eddie Einhorn, and media mogul Fred Eychaner. [http://www.chicagotelevision.com/pay3.htm On-Tv & Spectrum ] ] The service broadcasted live sporting events.

In April 1982, WPWR Channel 60 (a UHF station), dedicated a large percentage of its broadcast schedule to Sportsvision. To access the service, viewers had to buy a TV set top converter and pay monthly subscription fees to watch a number of sports broadcasts. However, Sportsvision was ultimately not a success and moved to cable in January 1984. Shortly thereafter, it was unscrambled and renamed SportsChannel. Eventually, SportsChannel would be purchased by Fox Network in 1997.
