Angie Lilia Pérez Capobianco

Angie Lilia Pérez Capobianco

Angie Pérez is considered one of the upcoming new faces in Hispanic television. However, she is not new to media. Her vast experience of over 10 years covers many of the amusement and news aspects of audiovisual entertainment, within and outside her native Venezuela.

Since January 2008, Angie has been based in Albuquerque, NM, where she is week-day news anchor for KLUZ Univision New Mexico, and national correspondent for Univision Network's [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Univision&oldid=192176849] national newscasts, including "Noticiero Univision", "Ultima Hora" and "Primer Impacto." As such, she has covered the 2008 Democratic Party primary and campaigns in New Mexico, including official visits of Senator Hillary Clinton [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hillary_Rodham_Clinton&oldid=192204923 ] , former President Bill Clinton [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bill_Clinton&oldid=192186678 ] , Senator Barack Obama [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Barack_Obama&oldid=192196659 ] , and she interviewed Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ted_Kennedy&oldid=192185580] , as well as prominent Hispanic social activist Dolores Huerta [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dolores_Huerta&oldid=191816749] , among others.

Also, Telemundo [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Telemundo&oldid=191036759 ] , one of the most prominent Spanish-language networks in the U.S., trusted Angie to cover the behind the scenes of the Latin Billboard Awards 2007. As a correspondent, Ms. Pérez contributed to various segments within the special “Reventon Billboard VIP”, which aired on Telemundo Network nationally. Angie’s packages included exclusive interviews with prominent artists, such as Paulina Rubio, Miguel Bosé, Fonseca, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Tony Dize, Los Creadorez del Pasito Duranguense, Los Horoscopos de Durango, Victor Manuelle, Yuridia, among others. Furthermore, the “Billboard Bash” coordinators also trusted Angie’s great professionalism and asked her to host such prestigious event, in both English and Spanish, along with Jorge Bernal, entertainment host of Telemundo’s news magazine “Al Rojo Vivo”. Until late 2006, Ms. Pérez was the hostess of an Endemol [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Endemol&oldid=191940085 ] game show -“Puzzle Time” or “Rompe Coco” for the Venezuelan market-, which aired live, daily, Monday through Friday, as a warm-up for Televen's primetime programming. Her fresh face and personable style on screen helped “Rompe Coco” escalate in ratings and popularity, to the point it became one of Venezuelans´ favorite shows.

At the same time, Angie anchored the entertainment news segment for the network’s midday newscast, “Lo Actual”, in which the spicy side of her personality introduced a style of entertainment news coverage never seen before in her native country, becoming the most popular segment of its kind in this very competitive market.

Angie began working for Televen [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Televen&oldid=190021910 ] –one of Venezuela’s three major networks- in February 2005 as a news anchor for the morning and midday newscasts, after her experiences as a news anchor for WUVC – Univision 40 in North Carolina and a six-month-long internship between the special projects department at WSCV – Telemundo 51 and the entertainment segment of “Al Rojo Vivo”. During her experiences as a news anchor and reporter, she has covered stories which span from the passing of Latin superstar Celia Cruz and former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, to the transition between Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI (which she translated live, from Italian to Spanish), including the resignation of Bolivian President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada, and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez´ many national and international interventions, among other stories. Her constant curiosity and motivation to learn has led her to explore and develop many other useful tools such as singing, dancing, manual crafts and make-up artistry, with great success. She was the first female make-up artist to work for M.A.C's [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Make-up_Art_Cosmetics&oldid=192143887 ] start-up operations in Caracas throughout 2000, and her creativity reached its peak during the Miss Latin America [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Miss_Am%C3%A9rica_Latina&oldid=188717428 ] 2005 competition, in which she obtained “Best Fantasy of a National Costume” with her own creation.
