Domo Records is an independent record label in Los Angeles, California. Domo Records was established in 1993 by Ei'ichi Naito, a record producer and engineer. Domo is an abbreviation and romanization of the Japanese expression どうもありがとう (dōmo arigatō?), which means "thank you very much" in Japanese, and this name comes from Naito's great appreciation for artists.

History

Domo Records first signee was Japanese composer Kitarō, and, in 1994, he won a Golden Globe for best original score with his soundtrack of the movie Heaven & Earth. In 2001, his album Thinking of You received a Grammy Award. Domo Records kept developing by signing many talented artists after the success of Kitarō. The label once had a distribution deal with Narada/Virgin/EMI Records, and now Domo Records is a leading independent record label with various international artists on its roster, such as Yoshida Brothers, David Arkenstone, Dave Egger, and ViVA Girls.
