John Ikos

John Ikos is a fictional character in the "30 Days of Night" franchise. A native of Barrow, Alaska, Ikos was born presumably in the late 1940s to early 1950s. Ikos first appeared in Return To Barrow the third installment of the 30 Days of Night book series. Ikos Is a smart almost instinctual hunter who hates all members of the undead; due to the killing of his brother Bo in the original Barrow attack. He is one of few people to leave Barrow to go hunting vampires on his own. He did so when Recently turned Andy Gray escaped his cabin and gave him the middle finger. Ikos was so enraged that he chased him to the only place he thought he could find him Los Angeles. Upon his arrival he went strolling threw heavily unpopulated areas in an attempt to attract a vampire. Not knowing who he was pursuing a lowly Vampire came rushing towards Ikos only to find the end of a shotgun barrel stuck in his face. Ikos told him that he might not kill him if he told him where to find more vampires; the vampire told him that he might find more of his kind at the pit; a back alley in china town. Satisfied with this knowledge he walks away leaving the rattled vampire alive. After arriving outside Ikos hears the screams of a woman coming from in side the pit. He kicks open the door and shoots two of the three vamps and tells the last one that Barrow has come to LA looking for a fight. After the last vamp flees the pit Ikos walks over to the blood drenched woman and turns her over only to find that she is a vamp who immediately tries to bite him; He holds her at arms length and shoots her with his gun. As he's walking down the street heading back to his warhouse he is stopped by the sound of a vampire talking to him; He turns around to find that it is a gang of vampires who call themselves the night crew. Their leader Santana Lutz is a vampire who believes that human are nothing other than cattle who should be ruled by them. Ikos tells him that he is after a fanged prick named Norris and that if he finds him he won't kill Lutz. The night crew immediately attacks Ikos and savagely beats him until Lutz tells them to stop; Lutz than tells Ikos that now he knows how close he came to death and says that he will try to find this Norris. Ikos gathers himself and head to his safehouse where he bumps into Billy a vampire who has had most of his organs removed by a kidney thief. Almost as soon as Ikos has patched up Billy the night drew comes breaking through the ceiling. Once outside they are surrounded by the night crew and told that Lutz wants them dead because Norris is one of them and not to be touched. Ikos does a valiant job to kill as many of the NC as possible but he is outmatched and about to be killed when Dane a Human sympathizing vampire kills the last of the vampires. Dane explains to Ikos that he does not believe in the ways of the Night Crew and their leader Lutz so he has come to help Ikos defeat him. While Ikos and Dane head to Danes place Billy tries to sneak into the Night Crews fortress and gets caught. The NC takes Billy to their leader and he decapitates him and hangs him at Dane's apartment. After seing Billies mutilated body they agree it's a trap and rush away only to be pursued by the NC. Ikos gets away and climbs onto a roof overlooking where Dane and Lutz are at. Lutz tackles Dane off their roof onto an antenna and while Lutz is trying to kill Dane Ikos Shoots his head off with his riffle. Dane leaves after talking with Ilos about thier brief team up and decides it would be beter if he left. Ikos never finds Norris in LA so he returns to Barrow.
