About the Pittsburgh Colts:

The Colts are the city's oldest minor-league professional football team, being part of the city for the past 27 years. Founded in 1979 by Edward G. Brosky.The Colts are a grassroots organization comprised of talent from area high schools and local colleges including: Allegheny, Bethany, California U. of PA, Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne, IUP, Pitt, Robert Morris, Slippery Rock, and Washington & Jefferson .The Colts are part of the North American Football League, Grassroots Division.Other members of the division include the Rochester Renegades, Penn-Ohio Tigers, and Ohio Cardinals.According to a Pittsburgh Post Gazette Article in 2005: [The Pittsburgh Post Gazette June 30, 2005 http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05181/530215.stm]

The Colts describe themselves as a "throwback team" [http://pittsburghcolts.com/values.htm] based on a strong work ethic and personal values. The Colts have been in several communities through their history. Most recently the team played at South Stadium in Pittsburgh's South Side. The Colts have interacted with the community they are in through numerous youth activities, visiting childrens hospital, and having community events downtown.

History

The Colts were founded in 1979 by owner and coach Edward G. Brosky. At the time the Colts played in the Keystone Oaks area. From 1988-1996 the Colts played in Stonefield Northpark and from 1997-2000 played at Duquesne High School. Recent Locations include, Uniontown, Chartiers Valley and Carlynton. The Colts were previously members of the Amercian Football Association before joining the North American Football League.
