CHF Partners in Rural Development

CHF Partners in Rural Development (formerly Canadian Hunger Foundation) is a non-profit organization helping to eradicate poverty in the developing countries of Asia, Africa and the Americas. It was founded in 1961 by Mitchell Sharp and its headquartered is in Ottawa, Canada.

Since its foundation by the Honourable Mitchell Sharp in 1961, CHF has implemented about 800 projects in more than 40 countries.

The Organization declares its mission to assist the rural poor to have access to water, land, energy, technology and other resources for sustainable and healthy living conditions. First of all, it aims to help rural communes to become self-sufficient. The agency is financially sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the Sprott Foundation and has among its donors such institutions as Asian Development Bank, Caribbean Development Bank, Citizens Bank of Canada, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), International Fund of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), UNAIDS and others.

From April 2004 to March 2005, CHF spent about 7.4 million USD on its programs, from which about 300,000 USD in Vietnam.
