Brooke Smith (born May 22, 1967) is an American actress. She is currently starring in the hit TV show "Grey's Anatomy" as Dr. Erica Hahn. She is most known for her role as Catherine Martin, the sole survivor of Buffalo Bill in the 1991 film "The Silence of the Lambs.

Early life

Brooke Smith was born in New York, the daughter of Gene Smith and publicist Lois Smith, who has worked with Robert Redford, Sean Penn, Michelle Pfeiffer, and other actors. Smith returned to her role as Dr. Erica Hahn in Season 4 of "Grey's Anatomy", in episode 5 "Haunt You Every Day", in which it was announced that Dr. Hahn would become the hospital's head of cardiothoracics, sealing Brooke Smith as the series newest season regular.
