Boomwhacker

Boomwhackers Percussion Tubes are durable, lightweight, hollow plastic tubes, tuned to notes by length, multicoloured, used as musical instruments in the percussion family.

They produce sound when struck on nearly any surface, or can be struck with mallets when arranged in formations, similar to a horizontally-aligned xylophone. When one end of a boomwhacker tube is capped with an Octavator Cap the pitch it produces is lowered by an octave.

Boomwhackers, although not instruments used by professionals, are widely used by music educators in order to teach fundamental concepts in rhythm, harmony, and melody. Being cheap and extremely durable, Boomwhackers are sometimes preferred to traditional instruments such as xylophones and metallophones. Also, activity books, lesson plans and song books are widely available.

Boomwhackers are usually purchased in sets; these include several different diatonic, pentatonic, and chromatic arrangements.
