Orbis Technology was founded in February, 1996 by Clive Haworth, James Caddy and Charles Malir [cite web|url=http://www.realbusiness.co.uk/ARTICLE/Its-decision-time/366.aspx|title=RealBusiness.co.uk - Entrepreneur and fast-growth new and reviews] as a systems integration company [cite web|url=http://www.egrmagazine.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=770|title=e-Gaming Review - Keep it simple] . Orbis's main activity is the development of its OpenBet software which is used by online gambling institutions throughout the world. The company employs 200 people, the majority of whom are software developers based in its Headquarters in Chiswick, West London.

Mergers and Acquisitions

In December 2000 the company was acquired [cite web|url=http://www.nds.com/newspdfs/Orbis_011200.pdf|title=NDS Acquires Orbis Technology, a Leader in Software for Interactive Betting] by NDS Group, a News Corporation company that develops DRM and Conditional Access software, and associated technologies.

Backed by the financial muscle of its parent, the company made a foray into the Games marketplace acquiring Shoreditch-based NT Media [cite web|url=http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-135760251.html|title=Orbis Acquires Game Design Company NT Media] in September 2005.
