European Wind Energy Association

The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) actively promotes the utilisation of wind power in Europe and worldwide. [http://www.ewea.org/index.php?id=5 About EWEA] ] EWEA members from 40 countries include over 300 companies, associations and research institutions. These members are mainly manufacturers (covering 98% of the world wind power market), component suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations, developers, electricity providers, finance and insurance companies and consultants. EWEA argues that wind power could generate up to 16% of Europe's electricity by 2020. [ [http://www.renewableenergyaccess.com/rea/news/story?id=48410 EWEA: 180 GW of Wind Power Possible in Europe by 2020] ]

The EWEA Secretariat, located in Brussels at the Renewable Energy House, co-ordinates European policy, communications, research, and analysis. It manages various European projects, hosts events and supports the needs of its members. EWEA is a founding member of the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) which groups the 8 key renewable industry and research associations under one roof, and of the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
