USS Vicksburg

Four ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USS "Vicksburg", named in honor of the city Vicksburg, Mississippi, and/or the Civil War Battle of Vicksburg (1863).

* The first USS|Vicksburg|1863|2, was a steamship, purchased and commissioned by the Navy in 1863, and sold in 1865.

* The second USS|Vicksburg|PG-11|3 was a gunboat, commissioned in 1897, renamed "Alexander Hamilton" in 1922 in the Coast Guard. Around 1935, she was renamed "Beta" and finally placed out of service in 1944.

* The third USS|Vicksburg|CL-86|3, originally named USS|Cheyenne, was a "Cleveland"-class light cruiser, commissioned in 1944 and struck in 1962.

* The fourth USS|Vicksburg|CG-69|3, is a "Ticonderoga"-class cruiser, commissioned in 1992 and on active service as of 2008.
