Steven Bishop (born in Australia, on 1970-03-03) is an Australian drummer, formerly of Australian band Powderfinger though he left the band before their rise to prominence because of illness. Later, while working in the UK for two years he played in London based bands. He has since gone on to record and perform with other Brisbane based bands, including Moonjuice, The Haymakers and The Predators (for which he is also lead vocalist). [After finishing at Griffith Uni in 2006, now works in the Film and Television Industry. Powderfinger

Bishop was a founding member of the group when in high school at Brisbane Boys Grammar School with guitarist Ian Haug and bass guitarist John Collins. In 1990 after finishing TAFE, Bishop decided that he wasn't going to continue with the band and left. Bishop was replaced by current drummer Jon Coghill who met the band while Bishop was still a member, while Haug took over on lead vocals temporarily until meeting and recruiting Bernard Fanning to sing and play guitar for the group.

The Predators

In March 2005, Powderfinger decided to take some time off. In this downtime Bishop formed a band with Haug and Collins named The Predators which like the other side projects for Powderfinger was signed to the record label Dew Process. The Predators released a six track EP in 2006 and were joined live by drummer Ross McLennan.
