}The Cedar River Railroad reporting mark|CEDR is a Class III railroad that operates on former Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific trackage. [Iowa DOT Cedar River Railroad, " [http://www.dot.state.ia.us/railplan/appendix_a.htm Profiles of Railroads Operating in Iowa] " Retrieved May 31, 2007.] The railroad was formed in 1991 after the acquisition of the Cedar Valley Railroad. In June 1996, Cedar River Railroad merged with Illinois Central, which later merged with Canadian National. The railroad has connections with Union Pacific in Glenville, MN, Iowa, Chicago and Eastern in Charles City, IA and Lyle, MN, and Chicago Central and Pacific at Waterloo, IA.
