Republic Center Tower II is a 53-story skyscraper located at 325 scaps|North St. Paul Street in the City Center District of downtown Dallas, Texas (USA), adjacent to Gables Republic Tower as part of the Republic Complex. The building stands at a height of convert|598|ft|m|0|lk=on, making it the 11th-tallest building in Dallas by roof-height (the building is 12th-tallest with regards to adjacent Gables Republic Tower's spire). The structure is located diagonally across the street from DART's St. Paul Station, which serves its DART B|style=nl and DART R|style=nl light rail lines.

History

In 1964, Republic National Bank sought to reclaim the tallest-in-Dallas title from the 42-story, convert|550|ft|m|0|sing=on tall [http://www.dallasarchitecture.info DallasArchitecture.info] - [http://www.dallasarchitecture.info/adams.htm Adams Mark Complex] . Retrieved on 16 August 2007.] Southland Life Building (now part of the Sheraton Dallas Complex), which was constructed in 1958. The bank hired architects Harrell & Hamilton to achieve this by designing a taller companion to adjacent Republic Center (now Gables Republic Tower). However, upon completion in 1964, the building was only tallest-in-Dallas on some lists. The convert|150|ft|m|0|sing=on spire on the original 1954 Republic Center gaves that structure a convert|4|ft|m|1|sing=on edge in terms of spire height. Less than a year later, the building was surpassed by Elm Place as the tallest building in Dallas.
