Iaret

Iaret

laret (King's Great Wife; King's Daughter; King's Sister) was the daughter of Amunhotep II and wife of Thutmose IV. She is depicted on a Year 7 stela of Thutmose IV from Konosso [ Bryan, Betsy. The Reign of Thutmose IV, Johns Hopkins University Press, 1991. p.335] as well as on inscriptions from the turquoise mines at Serabit el-Khadim in the Sinai from the same year. [Bryan, op. cit., p.336] The transcription of her name is uncertain; it is written with a single cobra, which has a number of possible readings.

laret (KGW; KD; Ksis)Daughter of Amunhotep II and wife of Thutmose IV from around year 7 onwards, which is the date of inscriptions at Serabit el-Khadim and Konosso. The transcription of her name is not certain, it being written with a single cobra, which has a number of possible readings. Iaret may have been the mother of Sitamun and the grandmother of Nefertiti.
