Ronald M. Shapiro

Ronald M. Shapiro (born March 29, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a well-known sports agent, attorney, author, expert negotiator, educator, speaker, and civic leader.


Shapiro graduated from Haverford College in 1964 with a B.A. [] and "cum laude" from Harvard Law School in 1967. [ Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler : Attorneys : Ronald M. Shapiro ] ] From 1972 to 1974 he served as Maryland State Securities Commissioner. In 1972 Shapiro founded what is now known as Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler, a prominent Baltimore Law Firm. Subsequently, in 1976 Mr. Shapiro founded Shapiro, Robinson & Associates [ [ An attorney with a feel for the game - Baltimore Business Journal: ] ] , a sports management firm. In 1995 he founded Shapiro Negotiations Institute, [ Shapiro Negotiations, Inc ] ] a negotiation seminar and consulting firm that has trained over 250,000 professionals in the art of negotiation, dealing with difficult personalities, and enhancing listening skills. In October 1998, Shapiro’s book, "The Power Of Nice: How To Negotiate So Everyone Wins- Especially you!" was published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Shapiro’s second book, "Bullies, Tyrants & Impossible people: How To Beat Them Without Joining Them, was released by Crown Books (Random House) in June 2005 and made The Wall Street Journal’s Best Seller List in its first week of publication. Ron Shapiro co-founded the Shaprio Negotiation Institute with Mark A. Jankowski, Esq. They have worked with some of America's leading businesses, including GenRe (a Berkshire-Hathaway Company), MBNA America,Gillette, and Black and Decker.


Mr. Shapiro comes from what some are heralding as the “First Family of Sports Management.” His seven children include, Mark Shapiro, the General Manager and Vice President of the Cleveland Indians, and, Julie Mangini, who is married to Eric Mangini, Head Coach of the New York Jets [ [,1,4611701.column?ctrack=1&cset=true Topic Galleries - ] ] .
