Fight Against Child Exploitation

Fight Against Child Exploitation

"Coalition to Fight Against Child Exploitation" (FACE) - non-governmental organization in Thailand. Founded in 1995 by active participation of UN agencies, The Ecumenical Coalition on Third World Tourism (ECTWT), and other institutions in order to fight against child sexual exploitation and other forms of abuse, which became wide-spread in Thailand.

Member organizations of FACE are: CPCR (Center for the Protection of Children's Rights), DEPDC (Development & Education Programmes for Daughters and Communities Centre), FOWIA (Friends of Thai Women Workers in Asia), CWA (Child Workers in Asia).

The Organization works at political, legal and direct action levels combining its efforts with other NGOs and government agencies, especially ECPAT.

Official objectives and activities of FACE:
* monitor child abuse cases through the judicial process
* solve the problem of child trafficking across border
* support laws which better protect children and close the loopholes in existing legal mechanisms
* campaigning publicly to raise awareness through education and mass media
* documenting cases for research and publication
* networking with government and non-government agencies and officers in other countries to coordinate the arrest, prosecution and conviction of child sex offenders and traffickers

FACE’s operations in 2002 - 2003 were partially funded by the US State Department, which covered staff salaries, office operational expenses, documentation, and travel expenses for social workers.
