The North Carolina Republican Party is the affiliate of the Republican Party in North Carolina. Robin Hayes was elected Chairman of the party on January 15, 2011, to serve the five months left in the unexpired term of Tom Fetzer.[1]

The elections of 2010 led to Republican control of both houses of the North Carolina General Assembly for the first time since 1896.[2]

The North Carolina Republican Party controls two of the ten statewide offices and holds a majority in both the North Carolina House of Representatives and the North Carolina Senate. Republicans also hold one of the state's U.S. Senate seats and 6 of the state's 13 U.S. House seats
