The Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) is an Indian technical institute located in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. It is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.

History

SNIST was established in 1997 and is sponsored by Sree Education Society of the Sree Group of Industries. It states it's objectives as the success of its students in the globally competitive technological world and leadership in their chosen profession. Fact|date=September 2007

Sreenidhi has been the Recipient of the National Award for Best HRD Practices by Indian Society for Training and Development, New Delhi. Sreenidhi has established a Technology Development and Test Centre which is the only one of its kind in the country in cooperation with an industry to test high pressure valves used in underground mines, with the approval from Director General of Mines, Safety. Sreenidhi is one amongst the top twelve technical institutions in Andhra Pradesh to receive the World Bank assistance under TEQIP scheme. Fact|date=September 2007 The college is rated as No.30 in India among self-financing engineering institutes. Fact|date=September 2007

The campus

SNIST campus covers an area of 33 acres. It is located at a distance of 18 kilometres from Uppal in Yamnampet village of Ghatkesar mandal in Rangareddy district of Andhra Pradesh.

Placements

Sreenidhi has a good track record in terms of placements. The number of students getting placed into, predominantly, Indian IT majors, has grown every year, with the number hitting the peak in 2008(2004-2008 batch) [http://www.snist.com/NEW_DEVELOP/placements2008.htm when 319 students were hired] . However, 2009(2005-2009) has been a major disappointment with more than 65% of the students yet to find a job. Major IT companies including Cognizant Technologies, Satyam Computers and Tata Consultancy Services have not visited the campus. The global slowdown in the IT industry has been attributed to the reluctance of the companies to visit SNIST, although doubts linger over this argument as the above mentioned companies have visited other major colleges in Andhra Pradesh. The drastic drop in the placement numbers is bound to affect the reputation of the college as it has, in the recent times, pitchforked itself as an institute with an enviable placement record, thus attracting parents and students alike. Now the college has to find other ways to woo parents and students as other private engineering institutions in A.P such as MJCET,CBIT,Vasavi College of Engineering have fared considerably better when compared to SNIST.But any way its reputation didn,t get damaged and still it is enjoying first position in JNTU.

However, as per initial EAMCET counselling reports, SNIST is still a favorite with the students (read as "students and parents"),primarily due to the strict disciplinarian procedures adopted by the college management within the campus.

MoU with foreign universities

SNIST has already articulation agreements with the following Institutions:

* Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA
* Ohio State University, Columbus, USA
* University of Detroit Mercy, USA
* University of Bridgeport, USA
* Southern Polytechnic State University, Florida, USA
* Vaughn College of Aeronautics & Technology, USA

tudent Activities

The college management will be first in encouraging the students in participating and organizing various technical and cultural events. Many talented students are encouraged to participate in the seminars at the National/Regional levels and they have brought laurels to Sreenidhi by winning many prizes.

College is having many active clubs. Students having interest in the same field formed as a group and were working for a similar cause under a roof. Clubs like The Robotics Club, Arts Club, Innovation club, Vox-Populi and IEEE chapter have proved their uniqueness in organizing various events in the college. Every year many technical and cultural events ( ROBOVEDA, Innovative idea and solutions competition,Sa-re-ga-ma, Odyssey,Adastra and etc) were been conducted by the clubs of the college. These events drew participants from various corners of the country and they have caught the interest of many MNCs and other organizations.

SNIST has a credit of organizing, the FIRST EVER TECHNICAL FESTIVAL EXCLUSIVELY FOR ROBOTICS (ROBOVEDA in the year 2007), under its belt. It was organized under The Robotics Club of the college(TRC-SNIST), which was sponsored by ISRO and other organizations like GMR, Electronics 4u. TRC-SNIST has all set to shoot again with ROBOVEDA'08.It has motivated many students to do projects in the field of ROBOTICS. The members of the club bagged many prizes (in some colleges all the prizes) in other technical fests organized in IITs, NITs and other well reputed institutes in HYDERABAD."If necessity is the mother of invention then adversity is the mother of innovation" is the driving force behind he working of the club. The primary objective is to foster the scientific temper among its members and collectively achieve success in their long stride ahead.

The Arts club, inspiring from the quotation of Michelangelo “The true work of art is but a shadow of divine perfection “, has been working continuously round the clock for the talent-hunt in the college. The huge response in participation of students in the event Sa-re-ga-ma has clearly shown their efforts to focus a light on the 'art'istic people. Their credentials include organising a Mega cultural event Sprihaa in the year 2007.The crowd were exhilarated with the performance of BOMBAY WIKINGS.Hyderabadis favorite RJ Adonica was a special guest.

Vox populi is an oratory club in the college. It primarily focussess on improving the literary skills. The club releases an annual magazine Perestroika which comprises what abouts in the college in that year. The club also organises an annual non technical event Odyssey every year. Odyssey08 was a huge event with a professional participation of students. It involved paper presentations on environmental issues and many other events. The day ended with a rock show by Exabyssus and Reve.

The college's calender is included with other events like ADASTRA (a national level technical symposium organised by IEEE students chapter), SREEVISION (by ISTE chapter), INNOVISION(an innovative idea and solutions competition organised by the innovation club) and many more technical and cultural activities.
