José María Vernet (b.
24 February 1944 ,Rosario ) is an ArgentineJusticialist Party politician. He was the first democratically elected governor of the province of Santa Fe after the end of theNational Reorganization Process , from11 December 1983 to11 December 1987 . He served as Minister of Foreign Relations (Chancellor) forad interim presidentAdolfo Rodríguez Saá during his very brief rule in the last week of 2001, immediately after the December 2001 riots and the resignation ofFernando de la Rúa .
