It is held annually at Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide.

1973 - 1979 held over 1200m
1980 - 1981 held over 1450m
1982 - 2001 held over 1200m
2002 - 2003 held over 1263m
2004 onwards held over 1200m.

1955 – 1978 was a Principal Race
1979 – 2005 was a Group 2
2006 onwards Group 3

Name

1955 - 1967 the race was known as the "SAJC Breeders' Stakes"
1968 - 1979 the race was known as the "SAJC Blue Breeders' Stakes"
1980 - 1983 the race was known as the "SAJC Bloodhorse Breeders' Stakes"
1984 - 1993 the race was known as the "SAJC West End Breeders' Stakes"
1994 onwards the race has been called the "SAJC Breeders' Stakes".
