nihongo|"Girls Saurus"|ガールズザウルス|Gāruzu Zaurusu is a three-volume comedy manga series by Kei Kusunoki and published by Shogakukan, Inc.. There is a sequel of the manga, nihongo|"Girls Saurus DX"|ガールズザウルスDX|Gāruzu Zaurusu.

The story revolves around 16-year-old Shingo Chiryu who had been beaten and hospitalized for a month by a morbidly obese girl whose naked confession he had rejected. As a result of the encounter, Shingo has developed a fear of all women, called gynophobia . While Shingo tries to hide his fear, the school nurse notices it and advices him to join the boxing club. However, Shingo soon finds out that all of its members are girls, the club's adviser is the school nurse, and one of the clubs members, the now slim Haruka Nishiharu, is the very girl who had put him in the hospital.

Characters

;Shingo Chiryū

:The 16-year-old male protagonist. Several months ago he received a note from a girl asking him to meet her in private. After arriving, a morbidly obese girl takes her clothes off and confesses her love to him. Shingo becomes frightened because she is so huge, and tries to run away. The girl becomes very angry and flattens him within an inch of his life, putting him in the hospital for a month. As a result of the encounter Shingo develops gynophobia, and views all women as "dinosaurs," like the girl who attacked him.:Shortly after returning to school, he decides to join the boxing club so he can protect himself from women. However, after joining he finds out, to his horror, that all the other members of the club are women. Even more terrifying, Shingo discovers that one of the members is the same girl that crushed him so savagely, but has since lost a lot of weight. Despite his gynophobia and his weakness toward women, it has been shown that his anger or fear (from something happening to the girls) can overpower his fear.

;Haruka Nishiharu

:A girl who was once immensely fat that confessed her love to Shingo, but got rejected. As a result, Haruka crushed Shingo under her enormous weight. When Shingo gets back to school Nishiharu has lost a lot of weight and Shingo doesn't recognize her until he notices the double mole on her breast. At first, Nishiharu is still mad at Shingo for rejecting her, but still cares for him. Later she begins to actively pursue him, and feels a lot of regret for causing his gynophobia and the scars all over his body. Being the direct cause of Shingo's fear makes it difficult for her to get truly close to him as he often has flashbacks of her beating him. She also has an intense fear of the supernatural, and usually clings to Shingo from it.

;Nozomi Kanayama

:Another member of the boxing club who has a very underdeveloped body; having the appearance of an elementary school aged girl. She has loved Shingo since the time where he helped her getting a book (one hundred ways to attack men), which was high up on a library shelf. Nozomi will do anything to get Shingo, most often resorting to using very 'sexual' acts to get his attention while planning far ahead in advance (brings extra set of clothes, food prepared (usually drugged with sleeping medicine) and etc). However, due to her child-like body, her 'sexual advances' produce no effect upon Shingo or any other male for that matter.

ubaru Chiryū

:Shingo's little sister, who until recently was the only girl Shingo didn't fear, mainly because she dressed like a boy. However, one day she started dressing like a girl and recently has gone through a big growth spurt, which makes her look much more 'mature' to the point she is constantly mistaken for a teenager (while she is in sixth grade). Subaru has a brother complex and is determined to be the only woman in Shingo's life (even wishing to have her brother's child and training to become her brother's woman, believing under a misunderstanding that means going through bondage training), where because of this, she usually treats Shingo's friends poorly, tricking them to do chores around the house when they come over. Becomes extremely possessive and jealous when other girls hang around her brother. Their mother doesn't seem all too motivated to disapprove of Subaru's feelings towards her brother, and is even shown enjoying movies with incest.

;Akira Sakō

:A boyish-looking, short-haired girl and the heiress of a very traditional and wealthy family. She is a second-year student and the president of the school boxing club.

:Akira wishes she had been born a boy, and consequently often acts and dresses as one, to the extent of wearing boys' underwear and shunning bras. She enjoys being with Shingo, and has no qualms about stripping in front of him as she sees him as a buddy, much to Shingo's dismay.

:Despite her tomboyish demeanor at school, Akira behaves and dresses like a very proper Japanese lady while at her family estate, and is well-versed at traditional arts such as cha-no-yu (tea ceremony) and ikebana (flower arrangement). She is extremely afraid of her mother, and was once nearly married off to Shingo at her mother's behest.

;Hotaru Hoshigaoka

:A busty transfer student whose clumsiness often results in property damage and injuries to bystanders.

:Introduced in the second Girls Saurus DX volume, Hotaru is a nearsighted girl with braided hair, a petite body, and large breasts. She joins Shingo's class as a transfer student, and soon develops a crush on Shingo because of his apparent concern for her well-being.

:Hotaru is a complete ditz, extremely clumsy and manages to trip and fall on a regular basis. Her falls cause her in turn to knock down everyone and everything within her immediate vicinity, often with calamitous results; it is for this reason that she was asked to transfer out of her previous school. Her clothing also has a tendency to come loose and slip off, at times without her knowledge and most of the time loses her glasses (which are usually on top of her head).

;Arahata Tsuyoshi

:A guy who loved Nishiaru back when she was fat, has a fetish for fat girls. He is also considered a gourmet chef, but only because he learned how to cook to make Nishiharu fat again, it later fired back when it was Nishiharu's sisters that turned fat instead. He's also considered a good fighter and is also benevolent (ie: giving an alley cat food, helping an elderly woman cross the street, and playing with some kids at the playground). He also views Shingo as his opponent, but also cries on his shoulder when he is rejected by Haruka again and again. However, Arahata seems to be very popular with girls, as two former models fattened up to gain his attention.

;Hijiri Fusō

:The leader of the boxing club, sees herself as very hot and enjoys making other women cry when they see how beautiful she is. Will do anything for money. She usually refers to Shingo as her doggy.

;Shiori Tsurumai

:The School's Madonna. By accident, Shingo bumped into and kissed her. Since that time, Shiori wants to make him her "slave" from his reaction of pure fear after the kiss. She is a dominatrix. After seeing all of the scars on Shingo's body she believes he is used goods currently being dominated by Hijiri Fusō, but she still tries to get him from time to time.

;Ichigo Shiogamaguchi

:In accordance with her ugly appearance, she is the most fiendish saurus. Putting form a great effort in bed with Shingo as she is currently under the delusion that he wont go out with her because she is too cute. She even use witchcraft just to have sex with him. At the moment because of her ugly appearance and promise from Shingo to be her second, she is known throughout the area as the "Hugging Phantom."

;Tsubasa Kōnan

:A cute boy that has an angel face. He's often mistaken to be a girl where he is constantly molested on the train and a lesbian wanted to date him, seeing that as the only way she would end up with a guy. Has a crush on Nozomi who is too devoted to Shingo to pay much attention and also a bit jealous that he is admired by the guys more than she is. He and Arahata are from the same school who up until recently, most of the guys believed he was a girl disguising herself as a guy to go to their all boys school.

;Akari Nishiharu and Yukari Nishiharu

:They're big and little sister of Haruka. Akari is a University student and Yukari a Junior High School. They like to seduce men going around their house. They're once jealous with Haruka's big boobs (when she was big).

;Akaike

:Akaike is one of Shingo's friend, he is a cheerful person.

;Hirabari

:Hirabari is one of Shingo's friend. Like Akaike he is also a cheerful person.
