"subHuman" is the fifth album released by Recoil. Alan Wilder stated in a start date|2006|9 YouTube greeting that there would be a new album coming in spring or early summer 2007. [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAf2RUyw7zo Youtube - Recoil - new album in 2007] ] On April 23, 2007, he released information regarding the album via MySpace and his official website, [http://www.recoil.co.uk/ Shunt] . "subHuman" was released on July 9, 2007 in the UK (August 14, 2007 in the USA). It has been released on various formats including standard CD, gatefold vinyl and a special CD/DVD edition which includes Stereo, 5.1 Surround and exclusive "ambient" mixes. The DVD disc is set to include all the music videos to date. The album is also released on a 2 LP gatefold vinyl.

Working with Wilder on this album is New Orleans native bluesman Joe Richardson, who contributes vocals, guitar, and harmonica. Also working on "subHuman" is his wife and assistant, Hepzibah Sessa, and Paul Kendall, who worked on 2000's "Liquid" and mixes from 1997's "Unsound Methods". Also contributing is English singer Carla Trevaskis, who has worked with Fred de Faye (Eurythmics), Cliff Hewitt (Apollo 440) and Dave McDonald (Portishead). The track "99 to Life" refers to the term used to describe the maximum jail sentence handed out, short of the death penalty [ [http://www.side-line.com/news_comments.php?id=23845_0_2_0_C Recoil (Alan Wilder, ex-Depeche Mode) song based on real tragedy] ] . Trivia

* The bonus clips on the DVD can only be accessed by watching the "Jezebel" video to the end.
* While the last video is called "Electro Blues For Bukka White", the music is in fact the 2000 mix.
* On "Backslider", Recoil uses a vocal sample from Siobhan Lynch's performance of one of its previous songs "Drifting" from Unsound Methods, as well as some sound effects from the "Poison Dub" remix from that song.
* Alan Wilder used samples of Depeche Mode songs such as: "In your Room" / "Higher Love" (Allelujah), "Condemnation" ("5000 years" and "Black day" (Backslider). [This was credited in the last Recoil Listening Party on June the 2nd] -
