He subsequently wrote embedded software at TSI TelSys, PropHead Development, and Netrino.[3]

Barr is the author of the three books: Programming Embedded Systems in C with GNU Development Tools[4], Embedded Systems Dictionary[5] (co-authored by Jack Ganssle), and "Embedded C Coding Standard".[6]
