Mike Kaiser

Mike Kaiser

Michael Hans "Mike" Kaiser (born 20 April 1963 in Brisbane) is an Australian politician. He was an Australian Labor Party member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2001, representing the electorate of Woodridge. A former state secretary of the Queensland division of the Labor Party, he resigned as an MP after being implicated in a 1986 Labor Party branch stacking exercise by the Shepherdson Inquiry.

Kaiser was the third Labor MP forced to resign as a result of the Shepherdson inquiry, conducted by the Criminal Justice Commission, into allegations of electoral rorting and branch stacking in the preselection of ALP candidates.

Kaiser was forced to resign after recognising his signature on a falsified electoral enrolment form in 1986.

After conducting his own Government Relations consultancy, he was rehabilitated by the Australian Labor Party in 2003 and served as its Assistant National Secretary in the lead up to and during the 2004 federal election.

He was subsequently employed as the Chief of Staff to New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma [1] before becoming Chief of Staff to Queensland Premier Anna Bligh in late 2007.

In December of 2009, Kaiser commenced employment with NBN Co, the Company established by the Rudd Government to design, build and operate a National Broadband Network, as its Government Relations and External Affairs Executive.
