A local disease is a condition which originates in and remains confined to one part of the body [Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary,28th edition. W.B.Saunders, Harcourt Brace & Company] for example sprain of ankle, boil on hand, abscess of finger, lipoma on back etc.
