Barbara Branden

Barbara Branden (born Barbara Weidman, 14 May 1929, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) is a Canadian writer, editor, and lecturer.

A one-time associate of Ayn Rand, Rand and her husband, Frank O'Connor, served as the bridesmaid and best man, respectively for Branden and Nathaniel Branden's wedding. In 1954, Nathaniel and Rand began an affair, which led to the Brandens' separation in 1965. Rand ended her relationship with Nathaniel Branden in 1968 when she discovered that he was having an affair with actress Patrecia Scott.

In 1986, Barbara Branden published a biography of Rand, "The Passion of Ayn Rand". The details of the split between the Brandens and Rand were disputed by James S. Valliant in his book. "The Passion of Ayn Rand's Critics".

Barbara Branden is the estranged cousin of Leonard Peikoff.
