Ecological release

Ecological release

Ecological release is a phenomenon associated with island biogeography. It is the name given to the process in which a species will expand its habitat and resource utilization into areas of lower species diversity [Losos, J.B., Queiroz, K. (1997). Evolutionary consequences of ecological release in Caribbean "Anolis" lizards. "Biological Journal of the Linnean Society". Vol. 61, pp. 459-483.] .
