Bruce Parkhill

Bruce Parkhill was the head basketball coach at Penn State from 1985 to 1995. He compiled a 181-169 (51.7%) as the head coach at PSU. He was faced with the daunting task of resurrecting the Penn State program, but eventually retired. Parkhill's efforts assembled a team that's generally regarded as the best in the history of the program, though he quit just before its most accomplished season. The 1995-96 Nittany Lions, led by Jerry Dunn (now an assistant at Michigan) and assistants Frank Haith (now head coach at Miami-FL) and Ed DeChellis (now PSU's head coach) finished second in the Big Ten, the school's highest placing ever, but were upset as a 5-seed in the NCAA first round by Arkansas.

Later in his career, Parkhill served as an assistant coach at Ohio State University and earlier as a head coach for the William & Mary Tribe.

His tenure at William & Mary was fairly successful. Bruce guided the Tribe to a 89-75 (54.3%) overall record between 1977-1983, and the 1982-83 season saw W&M go 9-0 in conference play to win the ECAC South regular season championship.
