Beth Cordingly (born Rebecca Cordingly on 24 October 1976) is an English actress most famous for her role as PC Kerry Young in ITV1 police drama "The Bill".

Biography

Rebecca 'Beth' Cordingly was born on 24 October 1976 in Brighton. She was bitten by the acting bug when she was very young and made her first major television appearance in the soap opera, "Family Affairs" as troubled teenager Sara Warrington — a lapdancer who blew most of her wages on cocaine. Beth started out in theatre, playing roles in adaptions of Othello and Noel Coward's Semi-Monde. At secondary school, Brighton and Hove High School, she was well known for her lead roles in plays, and her enthusiasm for acting and singing.

In 2002, she joined "The Bill" as PC Kerry Young, which became her biggest role and one of the show's much loved characters. She began dating fellow actor Daniel MacPherson who also appeared in "The Bill" at the same time as PC Cameron Tait, but the couple spilt shortly after her departure from the show when her character was brutually murdered in 2004. The actress then went on to appear as a stripper in the comedy series "Funland" in 2005, where she performed her first nude scenes.

She is a supporter of ChildLine and Amnesty International and recently ran the London Marathon. Her father, David Cordingly, is a world-renowned expert on pirates and has written books and appeared in numerous documentaries on the subject.

Alongside her acting career, she continues to be an active ambassador to the [http://www.anti-bullyingalliance.org/ Anti-Bullying Alliance] , notably speaking at the Anti-bullying week conference 2006, at Westminster Central Hall.

In 2008, the actress appeared in BBC 1 police drama New Tricks playing the former girlfriend of a bewery murder victim.

She lives with her partner Adam, who is a theatre producer and actor.
