Gaelic football er for County Meath in Ireland. He enjoyed much success play inter-county football in the forty's & fiftys's on the Meath team. During his playing career he has won 2 Senior All Ireland medals (1949 & 1954) as well as 6 Leinster medals. He played in 4 All Ireland Finals. Peter McDermott holds the unique record of participation in six All-Ireland finals between 1949 and 1954-five in succession as a player, captain (He captained the All Ireland winning team of 1954) and referee. He is also the only man to referee an All Ireland both before and after winning one. In the sixty's he was coach on the Meath team and held this position when Meath won the All Ireland in 1967. He is credited with starting the International Compromised Rules Series with the Australian tour of Meath in 1968. When the Series started formally in 1984 Peter was manager of the Irish Team.External links
