Yunnan University of Finance and Economics

The Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) is located on Longquan Lu in Northwest Kunming, Yunnan.

By means of updating the school facilities and enhancing the educational quality, YUFE is striving to turn itself into a multi-disciplinary, economically and financially oriented university with optimized structure and scale, outstanding efficiency and reliable quality, unique characteristics and advantages.

History

YUFE was founded in 1951 and was appointed one of the provincial key institutes by the Yunnan Provincial Government in 1995. It has changed names many times throughout its history. Most recently, it was called Yunnan Financial and Trade College.

About

YUFE is a multi-disciplinary university. It is not only strong in economics, management and law, but also offers philosophy, liberal arts, natural science and engineering education. The university is approved to confer Bachelor’s degrees and Master’s degrees.

YUFE has 17 teaching departments in total, including the School of Finance, School of Business Administration, and the International Business School. YUFE has 28 undergraduate specialties, including eight provincial key disciplines and four officially sanctioned provincial key subjects.

YUFE has four first-class disciplines entitled to grant Masters’ degrees, namely, theoretical economics, applied economics, management science & engineering and business administration. There are other 40 second-class disciplines entitled to grant Masters` degrees at YUFE.

YUFE enrolls students from more than 20 provinces all over China. It has over 12,000 full time students (undergraduate and graduate). The total number of students is about 24,000, including part-time students, international students and adult students.

The faculty of YUFE consists of over 1,300 faculty members including 787 full-time lecturers. Among them, there are more than 300 professors or associate professors and 70 Doctors. YUFE also employs 10-20 "foreign expert" teachers who teach English language classes and business classes in English.

Campus

YUFE occupies an area of 1021mu (68 hectares) with about 634,000 square meters of floor area. The University Library has a collection of 1.4 million books. Besides teaching, academic research has a key role in the university.

Partnerships

Aiming at promoting the globalization of higher education and academic research, YUFE has established close links with over twenty universities around the world. These universities include Charles Sturt University, The University of Western Australia, Suan Dusit Rajabhat University, University of Hawaii, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Keuka College, John F. Kennedy University, Yongon Institute of Economics, Osaka Sangyo University and the University of Greenwich.

Three joint education programs (granting dual degrees), with Charles Sturt University in Australia, Keuka College in the U.S. and the University of Greenwich in the UK were approved by the academic committee of the state council and have become highlights for the University.
