Elena Tchaikovskaia

Elena Tchaikovskaia [Sometimes written as Chaykovskaya or Chaikovskaia.] ( _ru. Елена Чайковская, born December 30, 1939) is a Russian figure skating coach and choreographer. She currently coaches Sergei Davydov, Andrei Lezin, Kristina Gorshkova & Vitali Butikov, Alexandra Maksimova & Egor Maistrov, and Emma Hagieva.

Elena Tchaikovskaia, née Osipova ( _ru. Осипова), was born in Moscow in the actor's familycite web | url=http://www.peoples.ru/sport/fskating/chaykovskaya/ | title=Biography | language=Russian | accessdate=2008-01-28] and edicated in Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS). In 1957 she became a figure skating champion of Soviet Union, but soon retired from competitions and started working as a coach and choreographer. Her most famous pupils are Vladimir Kovalev, olympic champions in ice dancing Gennadi Karponossov & Natalia Linichuk, olympic champions Lyudmila Pakhomova & Aleksandr Gorshkov. Lyudmila Pakhomova also graduated from GITIS, and afterwards in this academy was created a special faculty for former sportsmen and figure scaters, who are willing to become coaches. Now it is headed by Elena Tchaikovskaia herself. She's also a head of figure scating school in Moscow, called "Skate of Tchaikovskaia" ( _ru. Конёк Чайковской).

Elena Tchaikovskaia was twice awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour and once with the lithuanian Order of Gediminas for her successful work with Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas. She also previously coached Viktoria Volchkova and Maria Butyrskaya. She works in collaboration with Vladimir Kotin, her former pupil.

Famous for her ice dancing pairs, she personally thinks that single skating is far more important and difficult.cite web | url=http://www.echo.msk.ru/guests/5659/ | title=January 30, 2007. She's written several books about training of figure skaters, for example, "Konek Udachi" ( _ru. Конёк удачи, lit. "A skate of luck"), which was published in 1994.
