The Panhandle Trail, an interstate rails-to-trails project that runs 29 miles between Walker's Mill, Pennsylvania (Near Pittsburgh) to Weirton, West Virginia. The name "Panhandle" comes from the former railroad line that ran through this corridor. It was originally the P.C.C.& St.L.RR. which stands for Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis. Afterwards it was taken over by the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR), also known as "The Pennsy," and then Conrail. The railroad became abandoned in the 1980s, and in 1999 became known as "The Panhandle Trail
