It features the same basic engine as the G37 coupe, but engine power was reduced to 306 hp and 258 ft-lb of torque. Engine

A new engine, the VQ37VHR, replaces the VQ35DE 3.5 liter engine used in the previous generation. It shares improvements with the G Sedan's VQ35HR. The 3.7 liter DOHC 24-valve V-6 powerplant is rated at Convert|330|hp|kW|0|abbr=on and Auto ft.lbf|270|0 of torque with a 7,500 rpm redline in the coupe, and Convert|328|hp|kW|0|abbr=on, Auto ft.lbf|269|0 torque in the sedan. This is also the first engine to use Nissan's Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technology in the US.

For European models, engine is rated Auto PS|310 and Auto Nm|350 of torque.

Early dynamometer readings conducted during a magazine test indicate that the G37 manual transmission produces Convert|287|hp|kW|0|abbr=on and Auto ft.lbf|236|0 of torque at the rear wheels, a significant improvement compared to Convert|236|hp|kW|0|abbr=on and Auto ft.lbf|218|0 of torque at the wheels in the previous G35 six-speed coupe model. Transmission

A 5-speed automatic with manual mode is standard on the base and "Journey" trim levels with a 6-speed manual being standard on the "Sport 6MT" trim level. 7-speed automatic became the standard equipment in the European coupe in 2008, [ [http://www.infiniti.eu/en-gb/Gcoupe/ Infiniti Europe ] ] and in North America for all models beginning in 2009.

Chassis

The vehicle is built on an enhanced version of Infiniti's FM platform and is 36% more rigid than the previous generation. Available as an option is the Infiniti's 4-Wheel Active Steer system (4WAS) which can alter the front steering ratios as well as the rear suspension geometry for improved handling.

2009

Infiniti also announced Infiniti G37 Convertible, G37 Sport Sedan, G37x Sport Coupe for 2009 model year. All 2009 models come with standard 7-speed automatic transmission with optional 6-speed manual transmission.

Engine for G37 Sedan is VQ37VHR "VVEL" 3.7-liter V6, rated convert|328|hp|abbr=on. Other major changes include new available sport brakes with 4-piston front/2-piston rear calipers and large 14-inch front and 13.8-inch rear rotors, a new sport 18-inch wheel design and standard Scratch Shield paint (self-healing clearcoat finish). G37 Sedan is available in G37, G37 Journey, G37S Sport 6MT and G37x AWD models.

G37x Coupe uses ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system. The 7-speed automatic comes with with Drive Sport (DS) Mode and Downshift Rev Matching. All 2009 G37 Coupes receive standard Scratch Shield paint. Model range is same as G37 sedan, and retained the same engine as 2008 coupe models.

G37 Convertible is based on the G37 Coupe, but features a three-piece automatic retracting hardtop.
