Too Many People

Too Many People

"Too Many People" is a song by Paul McCartney from his 1971 album "Ram". The song is one of several instances of "musical sniping" among the four Beatles after the band broke up, the target in this case presumed to be McCartney's former bandmate and songwriting partner John Lennon. Other songs in this mold include McCartney's "3 Legs", George Harrison's "Wah-Wah" , and Lennon's "How Do You Sleep?," (which was an explicit response to "Too Many People.")

McCartney sings falsetto during the verses. Hugh McCracken's guitar solo between the second verse and third chorus is played in one piece. The second solo after the final verse is accompanied by a drum stick on the side of a floor tom, and the howling McCartney makes at the end is aimed at the Beatles.

McCartney played the song Too Many People while on tour in September of 2005 at the T.D. Bank North Garden in Boston, dedicating the song to all the Wings fans in the audience - although at the time of the song's release, Wings had not yet been established.
